Chain of Pearls

Written in 2006

The girl was under a spell,
Cast by a story tell,
Who painted a magic world,
Hiding the richest of pearls.

Each pearl looked very precious,
Giving a wonderful impression,
Collecting them one by one,
Was amazingly fun.

Each pearl made part of a chain,
Which could be worn only by the vain,
And the story tell had given them to her,
To show her all his love and care.

The pearls could be found during good weather,
A beautiful chain was put together,
Embellishing the girl's neck,
Making her the envy of all the rest.

As time went passing by,
Some pearls were falling, no one knew why,
They were just changing colour,
Turning grey making her sour.

The story tell assure her,
That the pearls were the purest,
So the girl could not understand,
The reason behind their end.

The girl loved him so much,
That she kept her faith intact,
She continued wearing the chain,
Even though he would not explain.

As time rolled by the pearls started falling,
Others looked simply appalling,
But each time the girl asked,
The story tell smiled and made no fuss.

When the chain was left with just one pearl,
The girl could not help to pretend,
That everything was going on fine,
As she was innocent but also sly.

Just as the story tell was starting,
To explain, the last pearl parted,
From the chain which was holding,
The pearls in order of bestowment.

The girl then removed the chain,
And gave it back to where it came,
As she realised all of a sudden,
That the pearls were not precious, but a puzzle.

So what was left from all this,
Was a chain which no one would miss,
And a story tell holding in his hands,
Pearls which found alone their end.
